Getting Started

How do I begin?

Contact us. We believe everyone deserves a voice! We offer a FREE SCREENING of your child’s basic expressive (how you express your wants and needs) and receptive (how you understand what is being communicated to you) language skills, and articulation (how you produce speech sounds using your mouth, lips and tongue) skills. Based on that screening, we may or may not recommend a formal evaluation. It’s that easy! If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s development, we strongly encourage you to contact us.

How do I know if someone needs speech or language services?

We begin with an evaluation (unless you have had a recent evaluation in the last 6 months) to determine if therapy is needed. The evaluation results allow us to determine how your skills compare to those of same age peers and if therapy is recommended.

What is your age range of clients?

We are accepting clients from birth to age 99.  We encourage early intervention, as research indicates response to therapy at an early age may greatly impact language understanding and use as children grow.

How much will therapy cost me?

At this time, SpeakStrong is an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Sanford insurance.  Once you provide your insurance information, we can verify benefits and eligibility for you so you know what your costs will be.

If you pursue services with us as an Out of Network provider, SpeakStrong can provide a 'superbill' for reimbursement from your insurance.  A 'superbill' is a list of dates of services with what you paid for those services. To find out more, call your insurance company and discuss private therapy reimbursement options.  Keep in mind that FSA and HSA funds may also be used to cover the cost of private therapy. Click the button below for helpful information regarding OUT of NETWORK reimbursement.

Does my child need outpatient therapy even if they are receiving services through Early Intervention or on a School IEP?

Many children benefit from additional services as well as those provided through the school or early intervention program.  The more we can provide children at a younger age, the better.

What is your cancellation policy?

We understand that illnesses and emergencies may arise. We respectfully request that you provide advance notice of 24 hours for conflicting appointments and obligations or you will be responsible for a cancellation fee which will be automatically billed.
